Smart Eating

Dietary guidelines for healthy skin

  • Eat little or no sugar or refined flour.
  • Maintain a low fat diet, avoid fried foods.
  • Eat lots of vegetables, especially green leafy ones.
  • Eat such high fiber foods as beans, fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Don't rely too heavily on one type of food such as wheat or bran as your source of fiber. Flax fiber is an exceptional source and also provides lignans.
  • Limit salt intake.
  • Eat fresh, unprocessed foods.
  • Ensure a good but not excessive intake of protein rich foods such as lean meats, fish, eggs, poultry, nuts, seeds, peas, beans, lentils, sprouted beans and whole grains.
  • Take a good general multi-vitamin and mineral supplement
  • Take one teaspoonful cold-pressed flaxseed oil daily. Flaxseed oil is an emollient and anti-inflammatory. Flaxseed oil can be applied topically around dry area of face and around eyes under make-up.
